What is the name of your state? FL

My mom has Alzhiemers and the doctor has advise that we get POA. How do we go about getting one without her consent? She says she can take care of herself. Doctor also has said she needs to live with someone or go into ALF but she won't hear of it. Need advise on what I can do. I live in Texas she lives in Florida.

My response:

Either you misunderstood your mother's doctor, or the doctor doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. Tell him, "IAAL promises not to practice medicine, if you promise not to practice law."

If your mother has Alzhiemer's disease (which you can't know until an autopsy is performed - - so she probably has Dimentia) then she doesn't have the "legal capacity" to sign a POA. You'll need to go to court for an order granting you Conservatorship of your mother.
