What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MN
My kid had a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign. We went and spoke to the hearing officer and he suggest we look at the video so that we feel comfortable to pay the discount fee or perhaps taking it to trial.
We didn't know he was captured on video until the hearing officer told us. We went to the record office and they told us that the video was already deleted and that they don't keep anything beyond 30 days. I called second time to have the double check on it because I don't want to waste all that time to go to court and fight for my kid's rights since the citation is discounted to $96. We didn't have the video, we went to see the judge and surely the video shows up waiting for us at the court house.
I don't have any problem paying for the ticket, but a little angry about the whole situation. I took off work for two appointments with the hearing officer, another day for a trip to the record keeping office, and one more day to the court house. I feel that they withhold the video from us and having us going through all that we did just to face the judge with the video was so unfair.
Before I pay the ticket, I want to see if anybody has any suggestion if I should continue to fight because of the situation or if I should drop off $150 for the ticket.
Thank you.
