ok, a friend and I live on our boats we are 22 and we each found a cheap sailboat to fix up and live on. We were leaving it one day when a bike cop came around the corner and asked us to talk, we complied and asked him what the problem was, his response was that he had already told us(which he hadn't) I asked him for his card and he became angry and called for backup(never giving us his card or name). seconds later a squad car showed up with 2 more officers. we still had not been told what we did. finally they said that they did not believe that we could own boats like those and must have been stealing something from them(we had no bags or anything on us of value)they demanded to see our tittle, and registration for the vessel. we told them that we did not keep this information on us and that it was in a storage shed with other items for safe keeping. we offered to go to the marina and have them confirm our ownership but they said no. we offered to take them to the boat and show the registration sticker and they called for another officer. finally the new officer showed up and new us and told the other officers that he could confirm that we lived on those boats. this made the bike cop fume but let us go. he said he would be keeping an eye on us. we have since been harassed by this same cop every time we pass him(almost a daily basis. yesterday i sat on a bench to have my lunch and he came by and grabbed my sandwich from me and threw it away saying that i did not have a reciet for it so it must be stolen. I have reported this to both the police department and city officials. every time i do i just get the "your just a dumb kid" speech. is there anything i can legally do to this guy next time he harasses me. I can't afford a lawyer and the newpaper has told me they are not allowed by the city to print anti police articles.
