Police Harrassment?

Ok I have a cop who seems to like to spread rumors about me and i'm at a loss as to what to do about it. This is the 3rd time in the last month i've gotten a call from someone telling me that the cop is going around town telling people that I a selling their kids extacy. This is totally untrue and I don't know what to do about it. Do I confrunt him? He is a cop after all and I'm sorta afraid he will shoot me or something. He doesn't seem to like gay men being in his town is the only reason I could think of for him spreading this rumor. I've never done drugs or associated with people who have done drugs so i'm really confused why he would do this. Who would I report this to? He is the only cop in the town. I'm just really confused and upset about this.

Take the information you have (including, if possible, the testimony from someone who was told about your ecstasy sales), and consult with an attorney in your area. If there is no truth to what this officer is saying about you, you may have a defamation action worth pursuing.

The attorney you speak with could also draft a cease-and-desist letter, advising the officer that legal action may be taken against him if he does not stop spreading false stories about you to people in your community.

It is always possible that the officer is confusing you with someone else, or perhaps there is erroneous information appearing about you somewhere that the officer ran across? If the officer knew for a fact that you were illegally selling ecstasy to children, however, I assume he would have approached you about it already.

While speaking directly to the officer about the stories may make sense under most circumstances, because of what you have posted here I would not do that until you speak with an attorney first.
