I currently live in Missouri but my question applies to the state of Michigan.
I hope I am using the proper forum. Around thirty years ago, I "pieced together " a truck from different vehicle parts and was having a problem getting this "self assembled vehicle" titled. So I signed a power of attorney contract with an attorney suggested to me by my father. All was taken care of.
At the time I was young and naieve and just "breezed through" what I was signing. Don't remember what it said nor would I have understood any implications at the time. I may have received a copy but God only knows what i did with it.
Anyway, over the years it became apparent that my father has done some pretty unscrupulous things. After reading more about power of attorney contracts recently...whereas all matters legal are "surrendered" I became concerned maybe I had signed something much more powerful than I had thought back then. Believe me!, it's not impossible this could have happened. Or is it?
I'm from a small town where everyone would know if I was to "pry" into this. Should I be concerned? After all a contract is a contract, right? And yes, I was over eighteen at the time. If so, how would I find out what exactly I signed? Please tell me I have nothing to worry about.
Felling kinda stupid in Missouri. Thanks.
