What is the name of your state? Kentucky

My grandmothers doctor called me -I am her listed person of contact-to tell me she no longer needed to drive and for me to get a power of Atty becuase soon she would not be able to make decisions on her own due to Altzheimers.I did this and filed it with the clerk in my county.About 3 months later I was told by a friend at the clerks office that my father-her son had filed a POA on her that day and mine was now void.I asked my mamaw and she wasnt too sure about it but remembered going to a lawyers office for something. My question is it legal to give a POA on someone that already has a POA?Should the first POA be notified properly? How am I to know that many people haven't gotten POA on her?surely KY law is better than this.
