I believe that a company I interviewed with conducted a pre-employment background check without my permission. I had not signed any papers, just talked. They are headquartered in GA. What does an employment background check include, and what are they allowed to do without your permission? They already had my Social Security number. Thanks

An pre-employment background check can consist of anything from checking your references (which can be done without your permission) to a complete criminal check (which cannot) and anything in between. What has happened to make you believe they have conducted a background check?
