The U.S. Constitution grants the President to grant reprieves and pardons for offences against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.

How then could President Ford have pardened President Nixon, who was due to face charges stemming from the articles of impeachment?

- not homework, just curious.

As Andy said. Nixon wasn't impeached. The process was going to start. but Nixon beat the process by resigning. Ford was then within legal authority to grant a full presidential pardon.
