Prevented from entering U.S.A?

How do I know in advance if I will be prevented from entering the USA as a tourist or in transit via airplane to another country? I have a drug conviction, 1989, in Canada and I wonder if my name is on any INS computers. How or where can I find this information?

If you are in transit, you will not get off the plane. If you do, then you are entering the US.

How do you know ?.. tough question. Most of the times you don't until you are actually refused. This is because each INS officer is different. Some will let you in, others are having a bad hair day and will shoot you.

Providing you can prove that your visit is temporary and show that you intend to return to Canada, then it is unlikely that a drug conviction in 89 in canada will stop you from entering the US.

I am from Canada as well and i am trying to enter the U.S. and i also have a criminal record but not drugs.it is theft under a thousand and i was going to fly down and visit my fieance and the denied me access
that was the first time i had ever tried to cross the border
