i am curious about the private adoption laws in my state (Ohio) i want to adopt the newborn baby of a friend who is pregnant. can this be done? can this be done without an attorney? will social services have to be involved? Can the baby be given my last name at birth? Can she just sign over her parental rights to me? this advice webpage given by lawrat did not answer my question. I mainly would like to know if I have to consult an attorney and if Social Services must do a home study. The birth mother has three children already and I want to know if they will be at risk.
