During late January I inquired about my husbands permanent partial disability (Oklahoma) incurred while on the job for his current employer, a Fortune 500 company.
The employer's private insurance carrier authorizes/pays the medical bills. Are they also the ones who pay the settlement (if one is awarded) VS payment out of the state insurance fund?
I ask because I read in yesterdays paper that some Oklahoma workers are STILL waiting (some as long as 5 yrs) for our state to pay judgements!

The permanent disability carrier is usually different from the workrs comp carrier. Ask the employer -- if its a Fortune 500 company, they usually care about their employees getting paid promptly.

I highly recommend that you & your husband immediately seek the services of a Workers' Compensation attorney near you. Based on what you wrote, it appears that the settlement amount will be very important to your future financial well being. You are never, ever going to get anywhere near the amount of money that you could get if you rely on the company or try to do it yourself. You probably don't realize that the fees the Workers' Compensation attorneys charge are set by law and are very law. Usually no more than 12.5%. You can find one near you at attorneypages
