Probation or not?

What is the name of your state? NY

I'm 17 years old and I was arrested for possession of marijuana. I had a court date and I didn't have to pay any fines and no jail time. My lawyer got my sentence that if I mess up within 6 months, this will go on my record but if I don't, it won't. I never got issued a probation officer or any of the paper work that I'd imagine would come along with it. My lawyer and the judge both just used the term "mess up". So, am I on probation?

Probation

If you have to ask if you are on probation, I wonder about the competence of the attorney that represented you. Were your parents involved? It could be an unsupervised probation, which means if you get into trouble during the probationary period, which you say is 6 months, then they can prosecute you. However, it is possible that the case was retired. This means the district attorney chose not to prosecute you, but if you get into trouble within a specified time period, the charges will be prosecuted. Either way, stay out of trouble. Drugs will kill you.
