My employer supposedly had to offer me benefits because I worked more than 130 hours a month for 10 months. The deadline was October 26th for me to have the health benefits in place. They did not contact me until the 22nd and in doing so, only wished to discuss the program with me (this was a voice mail they left). I was never offered any benfits and now being that it is past October 26th they are forcing me to sign a piece of paper stating that I wish to waive my rights to health benefits because I did not respond in time. I did not sign the paper and my employer is now threatening disciplinary actions against me. I have never had as much as a write up with this company. If they terminate me, do I have any grounds to stand on to fight this with the department of labor?
