When a lawyer fails to answer a complaint and his client has no idea that a foreclosure is taking place. What responsibilities should be placed on the lawyer as far as his negligence?

The same lawyer diverted blame on everyone else except himself.

The same lawyer hired two other attorneys to represent defendants, but not his client becuase he didn't need one.

He allows his client to go into a courtroom without an attorney or any type of representation.

The judge never questioned as to why the principal defendant had no attorney representing him.

The defendants lost their building worth $700,000.00 with no mortgage attached to the building. None of the attorneys (that he hired) and including the judge never asked any questions as to why the complaint was never answered.

My opinion as to why this case snowballed into a disastrous situation is:
1. He did not answer the complaint.
2. Due to the fact that his newly appointed position as a judge was pending at the time. Obviously he wanted nothing to taint his reputation because of his negligence.

The case is presently in the appelate division and a malpractice suit will follow. What should happen to this judge who is willing to let his client lose everything he worked his whole life for, to protect his own interest.

Where is the morals or ethics of this person and how can he judge other people?
