Hello,

Recently, my wife was promoted and given a wage increase. The company she works for sent her an offer letter stating her new wages, and she formally accepted the position. However, her salary increase has not taken effect as yet (almost a month) and HR is balking at fixing the issue. Due to some of the changes they are making internally, she believes her position could be eliminated. Even if this happens, is she owed back pay for the time period when her new salary was supposed to kick in until now? Should HR not resolve this issue, do we have a case? She works in Texas.

Thanks in advance.

Addition: I have found out that someone higher up is balking at the amount of the increase. Can they change her pay after the offer has been made and she has been working in her new position?

Thanks in advance

Unless she has a bona fide contract that guarantees the pay raise, they are not obligated to provide it.
