Prorate monthly Nursing home bill?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

My father has been in a private care/nursing facility for a few months.
He recently passed away towards the beginning of this month.
My mother is low on money and does not think she is entitled to any sort of prorate for the month. She is afraid to ask and does not want me to ask unless I have some sort of idea of the law.
Any advice???

Just call the billing office. It's a simple call, which I'm sure they get all the time. They'll be able to tell you. No reason to be afraid to call.
