I purchased a home, in New Jersey, after graduating college, with my mom. We have been in the home for 8 years. I married 5 years ago. My mom is planning to purchase a home of her own an sign our current home over to me. Problem: My husband and I have four children. We plan to stay together. We do not have a premarrital agreement. I have not had a good relationship with my in-laws. In fact, they have often given my husband advise that has caused problems for me and my children. Is there anything that I can do to prevent loosing my home to my husband and in-laws. Is New Jersey a community property state?

My response:

Click on, and read, the following. Just replace Massachusetts with New Jersey.
