Question about filing a motion

What is the name of your state? Minnesota, 4th Judicial District.

I asked this/these question(s) a while ago, but I wasn't 100% clear about the answer(s) ... I am not very literate when it comes to the law, and am working In Pro Se defending against a lawsuit.

here's my two questions:

1) When filing a motion, do I just show up to court, or do I file the paperwork with the court and wait for them to contact me.

2) assuming I send paperwork first what would an example of the motion look like? would it be simply like all the other paperwork filled out (interrogatories, document requests, schedule order) or would this be something I'll have to go to the library to find out?

Thanks in advance!
