I have a question concerning Cobra in the State of Florida. I was divorced In September 1997, and my Divorce decree read; Cobra: The Husband shall execute all documents as are necessary to insure that, pursuant to Title X of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (Chapter 29 U.S.C., Section1161, et seq.) (Cobra), the wife is provided with continuation coverage under the hospitalization, medical, and group health plan (as defined in Section 161 (i) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 as amended by Cobra), available to the husband through his employment for a period of 36 months after the entry of Final Judgement of Disolution Of Marriage, or until the termination of the wife's right to receive such insurance as allowed by law. Now,( I need to know what the statement means or until the termination of the wife's right to receive such insurance as allowed by law?)What law if any would have me paying for her insurance past the 36 months after our Final Judgement? I think I have over paid her at this time. I want to be sure I am covering myself before I try to stop payment on Insurance. What kind of advice can you give me on this?
