What is the name of your state?Texas

Debtcollector`, I saw that you are a pro, so I'd thought I'd ask.

My brother and his wife keep getting calls from Tri-State regarding an unpaid medical bill for the wife that went to collections.
The first thing they always ask is "Can you verify her date of birth?" He/she never provides the caller with this info, and ends the call. What is the purpose of verifying her date of birth? Why not the SS# or something else?

They are asking to make sure they have the right person. Most people will verify their DOB or mailing address. But people tend to baulk when you call them and demand their SSN before you can tell them the purpose of the call.

I wouldn't give my SSN to some that calls me out of the blue and demands it -- I wouldn't expect anyone else to either.
