What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas. Hi, I have a question. I attended a college/university and yesterday I googled my SS# for a different reason (first time I had ever done that.) Any way, of course it pulled up 2 pages of "junk" for numbers that were parts, etc. and then I saw a link to my old college. When I clicked on it I was horrified to find that it not old had my ss# but over a hundred plus others. No names were used. but it listed GPA, race, age sex, transfer hours a few other things. I was floored about fell off my chair. I searched and searched on their "real site" and found graphs tables for this information but NOT THE PERSONAL info that is showing up on the link...Can someone publish your gpa, ss etc ????? wow. Thank you so much for your help I am clueless! Oh this has been on here evidentally since 97-99????

There may be policies or procedures that were in place that disallowed the publishing of ssn information, but you'll need to track down the college guidelines on that. however, it is not illegal to publish ssn info.
