What is the name of your state? TX

My husband is the potential father of a 14 year old boy. Another mans name is on the birth certificate. How would the mother of this boy have to proceed in order to collect child support? She is telling some people around town that she is going to go after my husband for child support. How would it work? Would she just have to ask for a paternity test from my husband or would she have to first prove that the man on the birth certificate is not the actual father?

Well, first she would have to prove that the man on his birth certificate is not the father. That father can fight it because after 14 years of being the legal father he can fight to retain his legal fatherhood. Once she proves that he is not the father, AND gets his legal fatherhood taken away...THEN she could attempt to prove your husband to be the father.
