What is the name of your state? My dad lives in NC and he's dying of cancer. My youngest daughter is the executor of his will. She lives in VA as do I. My dad is at home and very close to death. A neighbor has been helping out down there since we can't be there. He has been very helpful and we intend to give him my dads new car. But one thing bothers me. He is removing things from the house and taking them home. I told my daughter she should tell him not to do this and to bring back anything he has removed. He hasn't asked permission to do this. I would be interested in any opinions and legal advice.

Since you and your daughter are in VA, how do you know about this neighbor taking things? Does anyone have medical and durable POA for your father? If so, who? Is your father still competent? Is your father taking medications that would interfere with his judgement? Who stays with your father and cares for him 'round the clock? Are there relatives in NC close to and involved with or can be involved in this?
