What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arizona
A new development in a sad situation.
Short backrgound.
I was the victim of Domestic Violence a few months back (I am a male). I and my former girlfriend both work for a federal agency.
During an internal review as an ADMINISTRATIVE MATTER ONLY, the police officers offered personal information about me, the victim, to the internal affairs investigator, without consent from me.
Skip ahead a few months,
When the Union at my agency received my ex's file and recommended punishment, the Labor Relations lady included (by accident) a particular string of emails from some people. The summary is below.
LR: To IA investigator.
"I'm told there were photos of the victim. Would it be possible to get them?
IA: To LR
"Sure, let me check with one of my old friends. I went to the police academy with him 18 years ago."
IA: To Police Detective
"Hey, I was wondering if it would be possible to get the color photos of the victim from case ########? our labor relations lady wants them for the case against the subject"
Police Detective: To IA
"Does labor relations lady want them for a non-criminal matter? If so, unfortunately they probably won't be released, if you want them for a criminal matter, you can come down and fill out a form. Actually, if you come down, call me before hand and I can probably wrangle them from records and get them to you before you leave
IA: To LR
Is this essential? I'm calling in some favors with my buddy and he says that because of "victim's rights" issues, they won't be released for this administrative case against the girl.
LR: to IA
"LR Intake says it would be incredibly beneficial to our case against her"
The weekend passes:
IA to LR
Here are the photos
Sends Six Scanned images.
I'm just wondering if this is ok...seems like a little bit of conspiracy on all three parts. I never consented to my photos as a crime victim being released. I requested a full report, it took me 7 days to get it and no photos were included and all, I mean ALL of my information was redacted.
Any advice is appreciated.
