What is the name of your state? Alabama

I work in the detail department of a major car dealership. we "the detailers" detail all sold car units (that are brought to us by the salesman) and service cars. I was working on a car last friday when one of the salesman brought a car back to us. He asked me if I would help another guy out on it and I told him no, there was other work to do and when there is 5 people and 6 cars, everyone needs to work on their on car. He in turn, gets mad and walks away for a few minutes. I continue to work on a car. As I am working I hear that he has come back, and He says to the guy working on his car that he is taking too long, the dumb cracker should of helped. He didn't know I was right behind a car working on it and I overheard him. I walked up to him and said what? I'm a what? He replys "You heard what I said" I have 3 witnesses that heard him say this. One of the guys said that I heard him the second time he said it, because he had already said something about me being a "cracker" before I heard him. I told my mangers about it and they told me they would handle it. I then find out the way they handled it was by simply talking to him, no write up, nothing. However two weeks prior to this a guy gets fired for saying to a woman "how much love do you got for me", but this guy gets pissed calls me a "dumb cracker" and nothing happens? Do I have a case?

No, you don't have a case. One stupid comment does not amount to prohibited harassment.

I told my mangers about it and they told me they would handle it. I then find out the way they handled it was by simply talking to him, no write up, nothing. If your management decided that talking to him about his comment was the appropriate manner to handle this, that is their call to make

However two weeks prior to this a guy gets fired for saying to a woman "how much love do you got for me", but this guy gets pissed calls me a "dumb cracker" and nothing happens? The difference here is that a co-worker blatantly and crudely propositioned a female co-worker. I likely would have taken sterner action with the guy who called you a cracker than just discussing it with him but there is something of a difference here between these two incidents.

If this bozo makes any other racist or similar remarks, report it to your manager right away.
