If this is the wrong place, I am sorry

I had my house listed under a real estate, for about three months..I decided that I didn't want to keep it listed, so I called and said I wanted to pull the listing. When I went down to sign my name they said that I cannot pull listing because they already have my house in the Dec book and that would be illegal, on my part and theirs. I laughed and told them they could keep listing till end of month and than I will pull...but is that consider illegal..so much has changed in everything and I guess I am not as savvy as I thought I am...thanks

Actually, unless there is a clause allowing you to pull the listing, they have no legal requiremnt to do so, even if you want to. You have a contractual agreement with them and they have a right to attempt to fulfill the agreement as you origianlly requested.

What my broker (and most in my area) would do if a seller decided they did not want to sell after all, or postpone the selling, we would take the house off the market but not cancel the contract.

The contract will expire when it is contracted to expire.

**A: the listing termination clause is contained in the listing contract whcih is most likely an Exclusive Right To Sell contract.
