What is the name of your state? California

I know that in CA all parties must be advised if a call if being recorded. If I call a business, hear their generic "calls may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance" and then click the "record" button on my end, is that legal? Or must I also tell the customer service rep that answers the phone: "I'm also recording this conversation." ?

Thanks!

They are notifying you that you MAY be recorded and you should notify them that they ARE being recorded. These notifications give either party the opportunity to hang up or shut up - if they talk, they are aware that what they are saying is being recorded.
