Previously i posted a post asking for legal advice concerning the process for reestablishing a biological parent as my legal parent. Replies to that post were limited to debates over my reasons for doing so and telling me down. The reason for my wanting this is noones business but mine and those involved. I am not posting this question to debate. Its decided. Please only reply with ACTUAL legal advice. Thank you.

Question:
I was adopted at the age of 8 and now at the age of 29 have found my biological mother. At the time of my adoption my birth certificate was altered to reflect my adoptive parents as part of a closed adoption. Now that I have found my biological mother, both of us would like to have her reinstated on my birth certificate and as my legal parent. Would procedures would be required to complete this. I currently reside in FL but the adoption took place in CO. Would we be required to present our case in a Colorado court. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Well, on a FREE legal advice forum, you're going to get opinions. It goes with the territory. If you can't handle that, then pay an attorney.

Right now, your biological mother is a legal stranger. Your adoptive parents are your legal parents. To change that and your BC, your biological mother will most likely have to adopt you. You will most likely need the permission of your legal parents. It can probably be done in either Florida or Colorado. You will most likely need an attorney anyway, so you might as well lock this thread too, and move on.

.

Just an fyi - whenever there is an adoption (closed, open, semi-open - whatever) the birth certificate is ALWAYS changed as the adoptive parents are now the 'parents" or "legal parents".

The only way to change it to denote your bio-mother as your legal mother is to have her adopt you.

Now that you're done whining, what are you trying to accomplish?

You've already been told that your birth mother can adopt you. However, depending on what you're trying to accomplish, this may not be the best way. If you want useful advice, you really shouldn't be playing silly "I'm only going to tell you what I want to tell you, and I'm not going to answer questions, and don't offer advice" games.

You have already been told what would have to happen, so in this SECOND thread about the same damn "case", what is it you want to hear (so someone here can tell you that, and you can let people here move on to more important LEGAL questions)?
