What is the name of your state?I live in New York state.
My mother is half owner of an apartment building. Her partner would like them to sell the building, but wants to do it "under the table". Due to that reason, we have advised her to retain her own attorney. Her partner has now retained an attorney that has sued my mother in the past, which means that attorney will be making money off my mother.
Is it okay for her to refuse to sell the building as long as her partner wishes to use the attorney that has sued her? The whole thing stinks to high heaven, and it just bugs me that the attorney will once again be getting money from my mom.
The attorney her partner wants to use would also be representing the seller and the buyer.
