Reinstateing Parental Rights

My Ex and his new wife pushed to have my parental rights taken away in 1991. in North Carlina at the time I lived in Fla .
Now our girls are 14 and 15 years old . Since then and before I have alway sent letters ,cards,and presents for birthdays and x-mas and so on with no problem from the Ex. In the last few months the girls have been e-mailing me and asking me to come see them and saying they would like for me to call and come vist them.
Now their father says If I don't stop all contact with them he will take me to court for >contemp of court<
Is there any way I could get my rights reinstate seeings he has aloud me to stay in contact this long.

You need to explain the process of why your rights were terminated. It does not just happen because he felt like it. Your daughters could also inform the father that if he continues to threaten you etc, they will make his life hell and walk out the day they turn 18.

He made it very diffcault to vist with the girls I was alound one vist a month and it was for two days .I could only see them on Saturday and Sunday. After many months of going back and forth to vist supervice by his mother and father. When he found out I would be get remarried in Aug of 1991. He remarried in April .From that point on every time it was time for my vist he would call and tell me the girls were sick so I would not be able to see the girls. Before I could get the money up to get a lawer.
my new husband got hurt at work and was put out of work for seval months .And we end up behind in child support . The next thing I knew he was filing to take my rights away. They had a GAL for the kids.He was in my Lawers office the day before court and said that the only reason my Ex gave for wanting my rights taken away was "If my Ex died he did not want me to get the girls. And he said that was not good enough."
Well he left and then went to my EX's house and spent the rest of the day with them. When he walked into court the next morning .He got on the stand and said he that my rights should be taken away.

I still do not fully understand what happened, but I also do not think you do. However, it is highly unlikely that you will get anywhere in any court action to do so. I am not sure that the father can file contempt charges unless the order specifically states that you are not to contact the children. More than likely he can obtain a TRO.

Best thing to do is to write to the children one final time, tell them the father has threatened you and ordered you to stay away and ask them to contact you the day they turn 18.
