In a civil suit, the other attorney asked for our personal info. Our attorney came to our home to have the questions answered. There were 5 families involved as defendants. We were one of those. At the end of the litigation we found out that our attorney released our interlocatory answers to one of the other families(POA). We were told that our personal info would not be released to anyone other than the other attorney. This was done under protest from our attorney. The case was settled out of court but the Pres. of our landowners assoc. stated that he got a copy of our interlocatories. Is this ethical?

Interrogatories

Interrogatories are questions that ask key information about the case and who you are to determine weather or not the case is ready for trial. Most of the time you can find out why they were released just by asking your attorney. Some information needs to be examined, and further questioning of you or others often is required based on your answers of the interrogatories. Although they are not public record, if they were discussed with another involved party, this may be acceptable. Call the Bar association, they can get you in contact with the people that can answer those questions more specifically.
