Rent increase limits?

What is the name of your state? North Carolina

Is there a limit to the amount a LL can increase your monthly rent? I rented a 3 bedroom apartment in March 04 for 745 a month, down from 845 since the LL couldn't rent the unit. Apparently no one wanted a 3 bedroom. I just recieved a notice stating that my rent would increase to 865 in April. Just curious if there is a limit to how much rent can be increased at one time.

very very few places actually have controls on how much a LL can increase the rent but now since you know its comming in april you certainly are free to shop around and start looking for another place . so by mid march you have a nice new place that is all empty and can start moving into . so your out on the last day of march . you need to follow your lease instructions so you can give enough notice that you are going to move out in writting sent certified mail . plan on at the least if the lease is expiring the last day of march to have notice sent out like 3rd week of feb so that you cover your butt that way and dont get cheap about the certified mail it will help you prove you sent notice .
