We brought a house in Iowa and before the day of closing, we found a water drainage issue in some parts of the lawn. The seller agreed to fix this after closing and we added that clause in the purchase agreement. Now the seller is planning to do a cheap temporary fix. Please let me know what are my options? How long the contract is valid?

He has to do whatever you agree upon in the contract. If you wanted a specific handling, you should have put that in writing.
Thank you . He is asking me to wait to see if this fix is working until next spring. Will this contract is valid until next year or we should write an additional contract.

Whether a single fix followed by a "wait and see" approach would allow you to seek additional redress at a later date would depend on the actual terms of your original contract.

What is the “quick fix” that the original owner proposed? Did you have anyone out to inspect the property to determine if the proposal would actually fix the drainage issue?
