What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
I have been with my company for 6.5 years now. I have over 10 years of expereince in the Administrative Assistant field. First, I was up for a promotion, didn't get it, didn't even get interviewed for it, then found out I wasn't considered because it would hurt my department too much if I moved. Second, I was asked if I wanted to take another position, which they call a lateral move, still working under my current boss, in my same department. I took the new position because I thought I could use the change and eventually I could move up from this point. I don't move into my new position until my replacement is found. I Just found out that the company is offering to pay my replacement almost $10,000 more a year than I am getting. I am furious!! I have worked my butt off in this company and have done way above and beyond what I should do in my position. There is no way they could offer my position out at my pay, becuase, to be honest, I don't think anyone would take it. Do I have any right to ask for that amount of money to move to the new position (the one that I haven't started yet)? I feel totally taken advantage of and like they just slapped me in the face. With my experience alone, especially in this company, there is no way a new hire could be worth $10,000 more a year than I am. Do I have any legal rights here??
