request for appeal never received

What is the name of your state?mass.

i have spondyliosis of the back. i was denied the first time and was told to mail in the appeal form that would be mailed to me. i filled out the request for a hearing and mailed it back. i've waited and waited and waited. finally called and they told me the appeal was not received and because of the time gone by i would have to start over. i have my copy of the form. can't they re-open the case?

Well mail does get lost occasionally .

Do you have the form ( copy ) filled in dated and signed ?

If so, maybe you should go to the nearest SSA office and ask , or better yet consult an SSI attorney .

If not , then that's their rules .

Lost appeal

I have learned from all the process that I am going through, that you should always send appeals by certified mail with a returned signed receipt so you know that they got it. And also to follow up with a telephone call in a few days. And always document all telephone conversations because they will appear in your exhibit files and you don't want any miscommunications.
