Slim and none. You may get primary residential custody but most courts go for joint legal and physical.[/QUOTE]

Is there a difference between residential custody and physical custody? Is it state law driven? I'm a Jersey girl - I rec'd primary residential - he gets standard visitation - with joint legal. Did physical also need to be addressed? Just looking for clarification

I was part of a hijacked thread earlier and didn't want to disrupt another one today. This way, I ask the ?, it gets answered, it gets closed and the OP in the other thread can continue with their issues...maybe not the smart thing to do - just thought it'd be simpler.

BTW -thank you for responding so promptly! Got a bit nervous and was already starting to google!!

1) Why did you start a new thread?

2) Residential=Physical

Physical doesn't necessarily mean Residential.

My ex and I have joint physical, I have primary residential.

Joint-physical doesn't actually 'mean' anything or give either party 'more' than the other unless otherwise specified in the order.

Most likely you both have joint physical. Joint physical does not mean time. It means that the kids reside at both homes. But they are with you more.
