State of New York, can you be held legally responsible for parent's debt after they're deceased, even if there is no contractual obligation for debt ?

Generally speaking no. However, if your parents left an estate then, creditors can file a claim against the estate so any inheirtance would affected.

Big Gun-question

Thanks for your help, my husband has been sued by the nursing home his mother was in. She is now deceased and the complaint alleges fraudulent transfer of assets (untrue, bank account still in her name). What is our recourse to this suit?
