We live in Texas. My son-in-law decided to leave and move back to Wisconsin, abandoning my daughter and her son now 10 months old. After he was gone 6 weeks his mother sent $50. After 10 weeks he started to send $100 every two to three weeks or so. My daughter has since filed for support and informed the husband of this. The husband is acting like he has something up his sleeve and my daughter needs to know if and how she should get a restraining order and legal custody of the child.

She needs to file for divorce and custody of the child. Once he has obtained residence in his new state, he can file there. Your daughter does not want this!!.. Retain an attorney immediately and have her file for divorce/custody.
