What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana
I'm a member of union working for a company in Indiana. (31 years). If my union votes to go on strike do I have the right to continue to go to work? I'm 5 years from retirement and I'm not going to let a bunch of 20 year olds living with mommy and daddy put me out on the street.

If my union votes to go on strike do I have the right to continue to go to work? When you joined the union, you agreed to abide by the decisions they made for the membership. I suppose you can show up to work (assuming the employer doesn't implement a lock-out) but you will be subject to whatever sanctions the union is able to impose upon you. They certainly won't be happy if you don't abide by the strike.

BTW, crossing the picket line, if it comes to that, isn't going to be a pleasant or perhaps even safe experience for you. Strikes can get very ugly.

Thanks for the info but I'm looking for a state law saying one way or the other. With 15 mil. people out of work and half of my plant shut down (with NO lay offs btw) the new contract did raise our insurance slightly but we where to get a signing bonus and a raise. How many companies are doing that in this economy? I do make more money thanks to the union but we make more than any other factory in my county and have better insurance. Striking is stupid at this time. Like I said it's a bunch of 20 somethings looking for the rest of the summer off. And as for it getting ugly that's what the Second Amendment is for.
