What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio

I was recently married and my husband's daughters mother said she was going to get a child support increase since we are married and that they will take money from me to pay my husbands child support. Can she do that. She leaves in California.

as much as i'd like to think we californians are all powerful, no. you are not required to support the child as you were not one of the parties that conceived the child.

mom can request an increase, but one can be granted only based on change of circumstance, such as her unvoluntarily making less, or dad making more money.

No your income can not be used to change child support amounts.

However, if there has not been a modification in awhile and your husband makes more now then when the order was first done, then yes there could be an increase based on his income and not yours.

Now none of us know your current financial status, but if finances are tight and she is granted an increase, that money has to come from somewhere. They won't garnish your check to pay for it, but you would have to make up for it somewhere in your budget.
