i live in New York . My boyfriend is not a legal citizen he is an immigrant and I need to know is it safe for him to sign the birth certificate or will they send him back to the Dominican . I want to keep him safe should my last name be on the baby's birth certificate and then change it after we get married . Please help me with some answers

You can name your child anything you wish (including your boyfriend's last name), and have your boyfriend sign the paternity papers (which I advise he doesn't until he gets a paternity test) and nothing will impact his current immigration status.

Is he undocumented? Overstayed his visa? It might make a difference to what happens after you get married, but as of now nobody - literally, nobody - cares who signs the paternity papers or what the child is named.
