I was wondering if anyone could advise me on whether we are responsible for a car if we have already sold it to someone else, signed the title and registration release and the other person has had the vehicle for a week. The car has developed a noise that wasn't there before and the purchaser drove the car at time of purchase with us and there was no indication of anything wrong. He is now calling us about the problem as if we are supposed to take care of this. Can he sue us if we refuse to deal with it?

Anybody can sue anyone for anything. Whether they win or not is another question. It would depend on who does the best job of convincing the judge they are more right than the other.
