Yes my wife and i live in GA. Have lived to ether in the same address for 1year and 2 montths. We have been leagally married since Jan. 30, 2009. We got married in Connevcticut. We have a donor and he is wanting to sign over his rights. We need to do this before the donor can get her pregnant. So i think he has to sign the donor agreement for relinquishing his rights. I even have the relinquishing rights for the baby at birth if need be. I just need to know what I have to do for myself to be able to adopt my wifes baby. We are all three in agreement just need the forms to fill out and any information that I will need to get this process done myself. Is this something I can do or what? Thanks for any help.

i've got to be perfectly honest. this isn't a do it yourself project. this is legally complicated and not something that can be done overnight. for your rights, for mom's rights, and for the rights of the child, it's best that an attorney familiar in donor adoptions law would be more appropriate.

Agreed, you DEFINITELY need a lawyer. If the donor is not donating through a sperm bank, he may even need his OWN lawyer to make sure his interests are represented. Not a do it yourself project at all, you don't want to have problems down the line where you won't be recognized as a legal parent because the adoption wasn't done properly.

Georgia does not recognize same sex marriages, no matter where they are performed. Atlanta may be the gayest city in the US, but..... I don't think that you will be adopting your partner's child when it is born, unless she gives up her rights as well.

Gay couples are allowed to adopt in many states that don't recognize same sex marriage. This is definitely POSSIBLE, but they need professional help.
