What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WI
I am a truck driver for a postal contactor hauling mail. I received our new health insurance enrollment booklet. They are offering 1 plan option. The monthly premium is 1100.00 per month. It pay 0% before deductible is met, that includes dr visits, labs, even prescriptions. The deductible is 12,700 for myself and spouse. They also have a "health membership" for 100.00 each a month. Its suppose to with Dr visits and labs if you go to their locations and Drs but they have no locations in my state. I have no choice if I want their insurance or not, my wife doesn't work so we can't use her plan. All the guys I work with are on their wives plans so they get their SCA fringe on their paychecks. We get 5.11 an hour for 40 hrs.I'm just trying to figure out if they have to offer something more affordable? I've looked on the marketplace and individual plans on our health system we use now. A Bronze plan similar to what work is offering is between 300.00 and 400.00 premiums but mine would cost 1300.00 a month if I used the membership. Gold plan premiums are cheaper. If I don't take the insurance, I lose 800.00 in fringe pay and no insurance. I don't know why they can't pay me and I could use it to get better insurance. I don't believe the insurance premiums can cost that much for getting nothing. 12,700 before they pay a penny. So while the other guys pocket their fringe pay, I have to give all my fringe and then pay 500.00 a month out of payroll for something that I will probably never use. This is catastrophic insurance. I believe they have 200 employees. Is this legal or living up to the ACA compliant. Any help would be appreciated. I just don't think that the company is paying that much money per employee for that crap. Platinum plan premiums for Bronze plan benefits. Does this stand up to their federal contracts?

They aren't giving me a choice. SCA Fringe pay they give me 2 choices. Get the money on my check if I'm covered under spouse or take theirs and they keep the 800.00 plus 500.00 out of my check to cover the premiums. The question is they have to offer affordability under the referral contract. Is what they are offering affordable?

Assuming the plan they are offering is ACA Approved or Grandfathered it is likely all they have to provide. Also the affordability guidelines of ACA are based on the Employee Only portion.
