teacher calling daughter ignorant, bald headed, dirty, have other kids rubbing her feet when they are actually suppose to be studying for Iowa test. asked that my daughter be removed from her classroom and was told that could not happen. talked to the principal and school board and was told they would look into this. this is the second time I have been told this and my child gets more upset everyday. talked with another parent of a child in same class and she's quite upset also. we are getting no help here. what do we do? We are located in Chicago, Illinois. This is a public school that are children attend and we don't feel we are sending our kids to school to be abused and treated like this. this lady has kids doing all sorts of things for candy and for her own pleasure. principal says she has a folder of complaints on this teacher, but nothing is being done to our satisfaction and we as parents can't even get our children out of the classroom of this teacher.

As I see it, you basically have three options:

1) Continue fighting the school and board. This has gotten you nowhere to date, while your child stays as is.

2) Exhaust all efforts to relocate your child to another class or school. If you chose this, I would first put all your complaints in writing, in a logical timeline, submit a copy to the appropriate authorities and ask for a transfer (of class or school).

3) Remove your child from the environment and place her in private schooling. It appears that this would be the most beneficial to your child, in the shortest time possible.

Also, in order to accomplish any or all of the above, have you considered contacting the local media with your complaints. Most of the electronic and print media has 'investigative' reporters who would probably love to see a story like this. I can imagine the news teaser.... "SCANDAL IN THE SCHOOL ROOM!!" or "TEACHER USES STUDENTS AS PERSONAL SLAVES!!".
