when this is effected, does it feel like pressure being put on it constantly? or like something is being pushed into it, not quite a charlie horse but the beginning of one. the pain runs down the right side of the butt and down the right hamstring.
i am just curious if this is what it is, i had slight numbness but since therapy started and i have been on the traction bed this pain has come and the numbness has gone (on this side).
thanks

These are questions for your doctor and the PT. So you are having some improvement?

well thats debatable., according to the PT today, I need to go to a specialist because she feels that PT is making things worse. she is requesting a new MRI with contrast this time and also a request to go to a neurologist.

Well this is progress, you needed another MRI and now a referal at least things are heading in the right direction. Do you have the support belt yet???????????

Sorry dude, not gonna diagnose you over the internet....

Ask your MD in person. A physical exam is required to make a diagnosis.

LOL, this cracks me up! OP has already been diagnosed with a lumbar hernia. Sciatica is a symptom, and not a diagnosis. OP is simply asking for a name for his symptom.

Me, "I have this tickle on my leg where I have a rash, and I want to scratch it. Is this called an itch?" Note "itch" is a symptom. It's not like telling me I have contact dermatitis.

And how many pages did it take to get OP to finally focus and pursue his open W/C case and get treatment, rather than chase smoke with malpractice??? Now he is getting treatment and referals, but we still can't diagnose him, that is why he is refered to his doctor and PT. OP needs to focus. Getting off track is what got him into trouble before and possibly delayed him getting appropriate treatment in a timely manner.

WRONG. Sorry Kelly, but I will call you on this one:

724.3 Sciatica
Neuralgia or neuritis of sciatic nerve

Here is the diagnosis ICD-9 for.... Sciatica.

It CAN be a diagnosis. Just b/c OP has herniated intervetebral discs, does NOT mean that it is caused by them....

As I previously stated, OP needs to talk to his MD in person to ascertain his problem.

P.S. I noticed YOU didn't tell him he has sciatica...... ;)
