What is the name of your state? illinois
i am having a problem receiving my security deposit from a previous landlord. i moved out on september 28, 2002 and i still havent't received my security deposit . in the state of illinois the ordinance code section 5-12-110 (security deposits) states that the landlord must return a tenants security deposit within 45 days after the date that the tenant vacates the dwelling unit or within 7 days after the date that the tenant provides notice of termination of the rental agreement. i vacated my unit in excellent condition and on excellent terms. when counting the 45 days how do you count? i am ready to take action against my previous landlord because i need my money. before i take action i need my questions answered. do they mean calendar days or business days? if the company office is opened on saturdays will i count saturday as one of the business days even though it is considered to be the weekend. please help me understand because i need my money and i am intitled to it.

Are you in Chicago?

If so:

1. How many apartments in the building you were in?

2. Does/did the landlord live in the building you lived in?

Two important questions that need to be answered.
