What is the name of your state? NJ

I have 2 questions.

1. I am so broke! Are there forms that I can file myself, without having to hire an attorney, for separation, temporary custody orders, and first right of refusal or does an attorney have to file them?

2. Do separation papers allow me to legally ask my husband to leave our apartment (which is in my name only - it was mine before we got married)?

Yes, you can certainly represent yourself. Its generally not a very good idea, but you certainly have the right to do so. Visit your state government website. The forms may be available online there. If not, make a visit to your local courthouse.

I handled my own divorce in NJ, but it was uncontested and we had no children. I used a kit I ordered online with all the papers and instuctions.

Depending on your county the courthouse might not be very helpful, mine just told me to go to the law library. :(
