I have been told by my lawyer and police that if there is no legal custody agreement there is nothing you can do.

However...

since there are no legal custody, temporary or otherwise, worked out yet, you do have every right to see your child/ren.....just as much as the mother does. Are they in school? Go to church? Anywhere else public that you might be able to see them at?
IN the mean time, you should leave a "paper trail" which means, do everything in writing. By this, I mean, make all requests for visitation in writing, sending certified copy, return receipt.
Keep all replies or lack there of should be noted.
For some great info, try this site
www.deltabravo.net
You will find a wealth of info there including form letters to use for requesting visitation time, etc.....
Best wishes
