About 4 weeks ago we took our van into a local service center (Family owned & operated type) and explained what the Van was doing, ask for it to be diagnostic tested and fixed. The next day, I was told it was the fuel pump and gave the OK to go ahead and fix it. I was told it would be done by Noon the next day. The next day came and about 2pm I called to see if my van was ready and the man told me to sit down. The mechanic had went out in my van on a test drive and slung a rod in the engine.that morning. No phone call was made to us, even though it had happened hours before I called them. They tried to charge us with a towing bill on top of $300.00 for not fixing it, but making matters worse. To boot, the Van was drove 2 towns away (30 miles one way) on a so called test drive and towed back to the Service Center. To me that was just a little more than a test drive.

I know that finding proof that they actually mistreated my Van is near impossible and I just want to know if i have the right to go and get my van without total payment to them. The man is threating to have it towed. Do I have the right to haul it out of his lot.....no contract was signed and I really don't think I should have to pay for them blowing my engine.
